Taipei's beer argument has two sides: the 1919 brewery that made the island's one lager, and the craft generation brewing against it. The road's opening twist is that the brewery's own beer hall moved out in November 2025 and took the argument with it, so the first stop follows the room rather than the smokestack. The brewery stays in the copy, where it belongs.

Super 346 Live House
The brewery bar this stop was built on left the building. Super 346, the beer hall in the 1919 brewery's old warehouse, poured its farewell festival in late October 2025, went dark on 1 November, and reopened in December in a basement on Ren'ai Road, new stage, same house rule: the 18 day draft flows and the bands play Wednesday through Saturday. Order the 18 day Taiwan draft, all you can drink for a 99 dollar add on, and take the Wednesday guest nights. The brewery itself still stands and still works, a designated monument since 2000 now ceding ground to a university's clean rooms, and its gate shop sells the same beer in 0.6 litre bottles until 8pm daily. The room moved; the argument moved with it. The rebuttal opens on draft, three metro stops from where it was brewed.

Zhangmen Brewing, Yongkang
Taiwan's craft rebellion registered its Xizhi brewery in March 2014 and opened this taproom, its first, in a Yongkang lane in May 2015. It grew to a dozen rooms, reached Hong Kong, then contracted, and the operator's own store file, updated 29 July 2026, still lists this door first: two in the afternoon till midnight, till one at weekends. The beer is unfiltered, unpasteurised, house yeast from their own farm, sixteen taps at the opening and a couple added since. So order whatever is on the taps and let the row decide; a Japanese drinker writing up his January 2026 visit went straight for the dark. Open fronted, tall tables, a before dinner crowd. The counterargument to a century of one lager, brewed in Xizhi and argued in Yongkang.

Longmen Kezhan Dumplings
龍門客棧餃子館. Jiang Zhimin came over with the army in 1949, left it, and crowded a family of six into a tenement yard inside the Donghe Zen temple. In 1968 he propped a tent up there and sold dumplings and beef noodles, and the students named it after King Hu's wuxia hit, the desert inn where everyone is armed. The city cleared those squatter houses long ago and only the bell tower stands on that ground now. The shop moved here. Taiwan Beer, braised offal priced by eye, no signboard.

45 Bar
By May 2002 Taiwan Fun was already calling 45 an established giant of the Shida night, wood tables worn pleasant, two bar rooms joined by one doorway, students and English teachers fighting their way to the bar on Saturdays. The name is the address: 45 Heping East Road section one, a small sign and a narrow stair beside a Chinese medicine shop, second floor. The neighbouring building came down about a decade back and took half the bar, the pool table and all but one toilet with it; the bar shrugged and kept pouring. The drill has not changed, a cheap bottle and the DJ's opinions, some nights a man who once spun at Underworld. The owners opened a second room in Gongguan in 2021, which tells you the first one still matters. Nobody famous, everybody regular. The wildcard has tenure.

Revolver
Revolver's own July 2026 poster does the verifying: bar, art house, music venue by the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial, happy hour every day from half six to half nine. Punk and everything adjacent plays upstairs while the cheap pints cross examine each other downstairs, expats and locals in joint session until unreasonable hours. Order a cheap pint downstairs before the bands, unless it is Wednesday, when the house holds Lemmy's Night and a whiskey coke costs 150NT in the great man's honour. The room has run since about 2010 and prints its address as number one, Roosevelt Road section one, though the door plate on the register reads one dash two. The rebuttal rests loud. Somebody will walk you to the night market after.
